Dear Montreal,
I love you. There, I said it. You are always there for me when I’m hungry, when I’m thirsty, when I need both. Lovely people, laughter, different settings, but it always ends the same. Around a table.
You are known for your cuisine, European flair and your welcoming nature. Whether you find yourself craving a Shish-Taouk from Boustan after a club at 3am or a delicious 3 course meal at one of your favourite French bring your own wine restaurants like O’Thym or Les Infideles..Montreal has your back.
I think I was a foodie fresh out of the womb, I knew the difference between my milk percentages and my Gerber puree, so I feel confident when I say to you that I know good food and I know good wine. Montreal my love, you have both.
I received a text this summer from a good friend and it said “Ok, you are my Yellow Pages of restaurants, tell me where to go tonight” I immediately sent 5 suggestions and the next day was told that dinner was great.
This isn’t about what I know, honestly, Montreal – you make it easy. Anyone who eats (at least) 3 meals a day can appreciate what this gorgeous city has to offer. I’m just excited to go on a food voyage with the world wide web! I hope to get ideas, and comments and questions and maybe even a few debates! I cant possible tell you what is the best restaurant, but I can surely guide you as this city is my best friend and we go way back.
If you like wine, you’ll know that a good sommelier is hard to find. So when I had a (delicious) meal at Le Local a little while ago, I was blown away by the perfectly bilingual (and perfectly beautiful) sommelier who told me my choice of Crozes-Hermitage as our first bottle was “simply splendid.”
Its not just about the food. It’s about the variety. My friends laugh at the fact that I haven’t eaten at home in weeks and I rub it in by “checking-in” (social media nerd) to a new spot just about every night. Indian at Golden Curry on Tuesday, Delicious lunch at L’Aromate on Wednesday and an amazing 5 a 7 with friends at my new favourite spot Les Cavistes on Thursday. Who wouldn’t be jealous?
Montreal, you cant be boring. I can walk an extra block every night just to find a new restaurant or wine bar that is waiting to be discovered.
Im looking forward to seeing more of each other, I think this relationship has a lot of potential.
Let me know if you are free this weekend.
