Caribbean restaurants, that’s not what we’re lacking of on the island of Montreal. Good quality Caribbean restaurants on the other hand, that’s a whole other story. However, there comes one more audacious one, right on St-Denis St., in the heart of the Latin Quarters. Ambition never killed anyone, on the other hand, that does not mean that Kalalu will not have to work hard at proving itself.

With that said, I really could not wait to see what it had to offer. I started by reading the menu, and here’s a sample of what it said on the front page: "Aujourd’hui Kalalu vous invite à déguster les plaisirs gourmands des îles : Haïti, Trinidad & Tobago, cuba, Jamaïque, les Bahamas, et plus." Wow, that’s a nice concept! Caribbean Fusion. That sounds good, well I’m here to tell you, that it also tastes just as good. This little restaurant with the huge culinary freshness will have you discovering flavours and aromas, you never imagined.

All though, you will not walk into tropical heat, you will be charmed by the original dishes prepared delightfully. The service is very conscientious; witch is also something that is a welcoming change, from some other Caribbean restaurants. The decor is not what you’d expect from this little paradise, never the less, it is a classy space.

What more can I say about this place, except, go try it! You will love it too.
