What are Puffs?
Puffs are essentially all natural yeast raised wheat pastries cooked in high quality Canola Oil, are dairy-free and contain no preservatives.
They are always served Hot & Fresh and are glazed on order with all natural toppings such as pure honey, hazelnut chocolate & maple syrup.
Our dough Puffs have roots in ancient Greece where they were first mentioned as “honey tokens” and awarded to the victorious Olympians. More commonly known as Loukoumades (pronounced ‘loo-koo-MAH-thess), they can be found throughout Greece in specialty pastry shops, restaurants or cafes. Pure honey, crushed walnuts and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon has been the original and most familiar glaze for Loukoumades. At Mr. Puffs, we’ve kept the original family recipe passed down within Billy Siounis’ family for generations and created a fresh and original twist to this ancient delicacy.
Mr. Puffs was first served commercially by founder Billy Siounis at local ethnic events in the greater Montreal region, in the summer of 2004, which coincided with the summer Olympiads in Athens Greece. He was the first to add delicious all natural glazes and toppings to the traditional ‘loukoumada’.
The pastries were an instant success due in part to the fresh ingredients, all natural glazes and the custom built cooker which cooks the puffs in front of the customer.
Patrons have been eagerly awaiting a permanent location ever since.
