Sho-Dan was built on the premises of passion, expertise, quality and love, opening its doors the summer of 1998.

A team of experienced sushi chefs, waiters and sushi-lovers formed ties excited by the stimulating challenge of working for themselves serving food they adored.

The team of seven wanted their restaurant to be in a busy area in the heart of the action. After finding the perfect location, formerly belonging to Standard Life at 2020 Metcalfe, the new lessees asked two friends - an architect and a designer - to reconstruct and redecorate the space. The change was so radical that when the previous lessees walked in to Sho-Dan they thought they had gone to the wrong address! Sho-Dan was ready to receive its customers…

And that it has been doing successfully for over 14 years! At Sho-Dan you can expect outstanding quality & taste because everything served is fresh. "For the fish to be fresh," Kim, General Director at Sho-Dan, says, "things have to move. Without people, things don't move." Things consistently move at Sho-Dan. At lunchtime you’ll be lucky to find a table for two vacant. After 14 years that says a lot. Service, quality, and a beautiful ambiance, but most importantly it is the passion behind what they do that has kept Sho-Dan so successful for so long.
